Spring / Early Summer Notes

After the rainiest spring on record in Tulsa, we have settled into the summer mode at LawnAmerica. The excessive rains have brought on many challenges, including being somewhat behind on our schedule. We will be caught up soon, and be out on your property on a timely basis from here on out.

We use the best pre-emergent available with your Round 1 treatment—Barricade. Even Barricade though will break down sooner when the soil stays constantly saturated, as it has this spring. Expect some mid to late season breakthrough with crabgrass and other grassy weeds. Remember that a pre-emergent will not stop all weeds from germinating also, such as nutgrass and broadleaf weeds. We will continue to spot-treat for weeds during your summer treatments, in addition to applying a granular fertilizer to help nourish and green-up your lawn.

Primo Maxx Growth Regulator

If your Bermuda or Zoysia lawn is growing too fast, why not consider trying an application of our turfgrass growth regulator—Primo. With Primo, your lawn will grow half as fast, while looking slightly greener and denser also. Plus, your root system will develop more, allowing for better water uptake from the soil. Primo is a liquid treatment that can be applied anytime in-between your summer and early fall treatments. The cost is 50% more than your regular lawncare treatment price. Core Aeration

Summer is also the best time to aerate bermudagrass and zoysia lawns. Aeration helps loosen compacted soil, and helps the root system to develop stronger with better air absorption. For more information, visit the Aeration Service Request page.

With wet, warm, humid weather, be on the lookout for Brownpatch disease on Fescue lawns. If you suspect Brownpatch, call us promptly at 249-5296 and we can apply a turf fungicide to help combat this troublesome disease.
