If the recent snow storms have left you or your business covered with snow, then contact LawnAmerica now. Last fall we decided to offer ice & snow control services, and it seems to be a great year to do so! We’ve been hammered, and we’re only halfway done with winter.
One new and unique service is a liquid pre-treat of Magnesium Chloride solution to driveways, parking lots, sidewalks, and other concrete surfaces. Liquid pre-treating of this special product is done in the northern states frequently on roads, and even in Oklahoma. By pre-treating up to 48 hours in advance of a storm, the ice or snow does not stick to the surface as well, and often even melts as it falls. If we receive 6” of ice or snow, it will not melt that, but it will help prevent the bonding of ice to the concrete surface, making it easier to plow. Liquid pre-treating is not perfect, and has its’ limitations. Every storm is different, and difficult to predict. The treatment does need to be down before the ice or snow actually starts and before accumulation begins. Our fees are roughly about $280/acre of concrete surface applied to. This service can be set up to do before an ice or snow event, with the customer being called 48 hours beforehand to confirm the application.
We also offer snow plowing services to South Tulsa, Broken Arrow, and Owasso. This can be set up to do automatically when the snow reaches a 2” level, so that you do not even have to call. We can service parking lots, streets, and even home driveways and sidewalks. PricinIcg is detailed below:

Does the Ice & Snow Affect Lawn Treatments?
We barely began our Round 1 Early Spring Weed-Control treatments before this latest show storm hit. Moisture in the form of snow is good for the turf over the winter, as it melts into the turf. Pre-emergents will be watered in with this. Hopefully the snow will melt soon though, so we can start applying again. The pre-emergent needs to be applied by late March in order to be effective. We have a lot of time before Crabgrass germinates, so we’ll be able to be done just fine by then. That’s assuming we don’t get a snow storm every two weeks! It’s been a long time since we experienced a hard winter in Oklahoma, so this appears to be it. Haven’t heard much about global warming lately have we?
Rest assured though that the snow will melt soon, exposing your lawn again. And our service, by helping to provide a thick, healthy turf helps combat the possibility of any global warming by absorbing Carbon Dioxide from the air and releasing Oxygen. It may not be much, but your own lawn is doing it’s part by being an Oxygen-generating machine, while sucking out CO2 from the air through the process of respiration.

After a brief reprieve from the great “Christmas Eve Blizzard,” we’ve been visited again my old man winter. At LawnAmerica, we just started applying our Step 1 pre-emergent weed-control treatment, so we barely got out of the gate before this hit.
However, we’ve added ice & snow control to our service mix this season, so most of our trucks have metamorphosed into liquid pre-treating trucks with the capability of applying a special heavy salt solution of Magnesium Chloride to help combat the buildup of ice and snow on parking lots, sidewalks, and other concrete areas.
