Being a good steward of what we have been blessed with is foundational to our existence as a company at LawnAmerica. Giving back to our community, and our nation, is not something that we do for publicity, but rather because it is the right thing to do.
We had an opportunity this week to give back to our nation through the Renewal & Remembrance Event at the Arlington National Cemetery. This event occurs annually each summer and is a way for our nation’s landscape and lawn care professionals to donate their skills and time to the beautification of our National Cemetery and in turn to pay respects to the heroes that are represented there.
This year was different for LawnAmerica though. One of our current employees, Jake Johnson, the oldest son of owner Brad Johnson, was able to attend the Renewal and Remembrance event. Jake served our nation with the Marines on three deployments overseas since 2009 and only recently returned home to Tulsa to work for LawnAmerica. During one of his deployments to Afghanistan his unit suffered the loss of 10 men, three of which are buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
Brad and Jake spent part of their day helping to make Arlington National Cemetery more beautiful and the rest paying respect to those who helped to make our country the greatest nation on earth.
It’s not every day that you get to meet a real life hero. Here at LawnAmerica, we get to work with one every day. Thank you for your service Mr. Jake Johnson!
